Power of Critical Pedagogy

On Friday 31st January, Ginie Servant-Miklos was invited to debate the “power of critical pedagogy” at the famous Dutch debate venue Pakhuis de Zwijger in Amsterdam.

Together with Alona van Rosmalen and Esmee Mouktar from the Willem de Koning Academie and Theo Jansen and Anne-Ruth Wertheim, two pioneers of critical pedagogy in the Netherlands, she discussed the history and present relevance of critical pedagogy in high school and higher education in the Netherlands. After a short discussion on the ideas behind critical pedagogy, she presented two projects that she is current working on with a critical pedagogy approach: the Climate Crisis interdisciplinary course at EUC, and the CARE project, an outreach programme joining EUR students and VMBO students in Rotterdam through social-transformative problem-based community projects.
