Add Library guides and resources to Canvas

An easy way to add Library guides and resources to your Canvas course is through Learning Technology Integration (LTI).

LibGuides – Erasmus University Library is an LTI tool for manually selecting and adding Library guides and A-Z Database resources to a Canvas course. You can add these to Modules, Pages or even Assignments. You can embed a Full LibGuide, a Single Page from a guide or a Content Box from a guide.

Library guides

The Library offers three types of guides: guides per discipline, topic guides and e-courses:

Guides per discipline

These guides are created by our faculty liaisons and give an overview of recommended sources per discipline. This set of guides also includes a general guide about Newspapers, magazines & articles on current affairs and a guide containing Erasmus Data Service Centre (EDSC) manuals for financial databases.

Topic guides

  • Information skills
    Short e-modules on information and academic skills topics for students and researchers. The modules combine text, exercises and videos, which can be worked through separately. The topics follow the phases of the research cycle and can be consulted anywhere, anytime. The Instructors' guide helps you to decide which e-modules you could offer your students and how to embed these in your Canvas course.
  • Research tools
    The Library created guides for ORCID, Overleaf-LaTeX en RefWorks. Some other guides are created by the provider of the tool or database. You can use the Redirect app  to embed external content in your Canvas course.

E-courses

  • Research Impacts
    In this course the three most used databases (Web of Science, Scopus and Google Scholar) for measuring research impact are introduced.

A-Z Databanken

A fourth type of content is information about and links to resources in the A-Z Databases list. When adding content from the A-Z Databases list to a Canvas course you can choose to add a specific database or a list:

  • All A-Z Databases;

  • Databases for Specific Subject + Subject Specialist ;

  • Specific Subject (List only);

  • New/Trial Databases.
