Dear colleagues,
We are pleased to invite you to a faculty event featuring a lecture and panel discussion on a central theme in contemporary ontology.
Title: Existential Ontology and the Pluralism of Modes of Existence
Speaker: Christian Frigerio
Date: Wednesday, 30 April
Time: 16:00–18:00
Location: Glasbak (J5-62/64)
Description:
The debate between defenders of the univocity of being and those advocating a plurality of modes of existence has been pivotal in both continental and analytic ontology for several decades. This talk introduces “existential ontology” as a discipline that addresses being qua being from a formal standpoint, while placing the diversity of modes of existence at the heart of ontological inquiry. It aims to shed new light on the distinctions between essence and existence, as well as between modalities and modes of existence.
