Our primary topic of research concerns decisions under risk and uncertainty, with a central role for prospect theory. Other topics of research include intertemporal choice (hyperbolic discounting) and social inequality. Most of us do both theoretical and empirical work, where each of these two kinds of work benefits from experience with the other.
Much of our work is on the quantitative measurement of subjective decision attitudes, in the spirit of Lord Kelvin's maxim "science is measurement." Relevant quantities to be measured include utility, quality of life, happiness, discount rates, subjective probabilities, loss aversion, and regard for others.
