Erik Hans Klijn receives an honorary doctorate from Ghent University

On the recommendation of their Faculty of Economics and Business Administration,  Ghent University is awarding an honorary doctorate to professor Erik Hans Klijn of the Department of Public Administration and Sociology at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Klijn receives the award for his scientific merits, especially in the field of (network) governance. The honorary doctorate will be awarded to Klijn during the Dies Natalis of Ghent University on 22 March.

The Ghent honorary doctorate goes to persons who have demonstrated a great merit in academic education, scientific research and social or scientific services.

About Erik Hans Klijn

Prof. dr. Erik Hans Klijn is Professor of Public Administration at Erasmus University Rotterdam and belongs to the world's most renowned academics in the field of Pubic Administration. His research focuses mainly on complex decision-making, (policy) networks, network management and public branding. In recent years he has also researched the influence of the media on complex decision-making.  His international reputation is evident from the many articles in top public administration journals and his many guest professorships. The book Managing Complex Networks (1997), which he edited together with Walter Kickert and Joop Koppenjan, is one of the most influential works in the field of networking worldwide. From 2012 to 2018 he was president of the International Research Society of Public Management (IRSPM) and received several large NWO and European research grants. 

Recent books: ‘’ Branding in governance and public management’ (Routledge, 2012 together with Jasper Eshuis), ‘Governance networks in the public sector (Routledge, 2016, together with Joop Koppenjan, and “Innovations in City Governments: Structures, Networks and Leadership” Routledge, 2017 together with Jenny M.
