Evelyn Ruppert appointed on the prof.dr. J.A.A. van Doorn honorary chair

Sociologist prof.dr. Evelyn Ruppert is appointed on the prof.dr. J.A.A. van Doorn honorary chair. The chair is a tribute to the founder of the Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences (ESSB). She is also appointed as Van Doorn Fellow at the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study in Humanities and Social Sciences (NIAS)

About Evelyn Ruppert

Prof.dr. Evelyn Ruppert is professor Sociology at Goldsmiths University of London. She received an ERC Consolidator Grant for her project 'Peopling Europe: How Data make a people' in 2014. She also is one of the founders of the open access scientific journal 'Big Data & Society' Her most recent book, with Ensin Igin, is Being Digital Citizens from 2015. Evelyn Ruppert worked for eleven years in spatial planning and worked as a policy advisor and government consultant, before obtaining her PhD and working at the university.

The duration of the chair is 1 February - 1 July 2018. During her stay at the ESSB she will be giving a few seminars and the Van Doorn lecture.
