About Joseph Popolo
H.E. Joseph Popolo is the United States Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands. On 29 October 2025, he presented his credentials to His Majesty King Willem-Alexander at Paleis Noordeinde.
Ambassador Popolo is, above all, a businessman. He joined The Freeman Company, a large marketing and events firm, in 1997, where he rose through the ranks to become president and CEO. Under his leadership, the company’s turnover reportedly grew from 700 million to over 3 billion dollars.
He is also the founder of Charles & Potomac Capital, LLC, a private investment firm focused on investments in technology, healthcare, media, energy, and real estate. He served as the firm’s CEO from 2019 until 2025, overseeing more than 50 investments globally.
Joseph Popolo earned a BS in Finance from Boston College and an MBA in Finance and Business Economics from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago. He is active in educational and philanthropic organisations, serving as a Trustee of Boston College and a member of the Executive Board of the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University and supporting the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and The Papal Foundation.
