I am a Ph.D. candidate in Finance at Erasmus School of Economics, Erasmus University Rotterdam. My research is in empirical corporate finance, with a focus on labor and human capital. I study how labor market institutions and organizational policies shape the allocation of human capital and affect workers' careers, firm investment, and labor productivity.

Noncompete Agreements and the Allocation of Human Capital Within Firms

When firms face restrictions on hiring external talent, can internal talent reallocation compensate? Using changes in noncompete enforceability, I show that firms respond with more internal promotions and occupational reallocation, particularly among knowledge workers. However, these adjustments coincide with lower labor productivity, suggesting that internal mobility cannot fully substitute for external talent markets.
