Global Social Challenges

Governing Future Security
Jason Blackeye

Why this research?

New technologies make our communication easier and faster. At the same time, they also change the way policymakers think and plan for future conflicts.

What does the research involve?

The sub-theme ‘Governing future security’ investigates the relationship between technology, security, and transforming societies.

Central questions

In our research we focus on a number of central questions: How are emerging technologies changing the way we think about security? What are the differences between societies in how they integrate emerging technologies into their security policies? And how does the transformation of societies affect the way they think about security?

Purpose of our research

From this pillar we want to understand the transformation of technology through research and collaboration. This research is relevant for stakeholders who are working on future solutions in the field of security and governance. With our research and its scope, we build a bridge to these and other stakeholders. Together we recognize the potential of emerging technologies and see the urgency to change the existing situation.
