Biography
I am a cultural sociologist studying citizens’ meanings attributed to salient social issues and analyzing their particular responses to these. I analyze such issues related to welfare, redistribution, immigration, and the EU. For example, I have uncovered different understandings of welfare benefits, and have assessed how worldviews shape responses to information about inequality. A pragmatic cultural-sociological approach is my go-to analytical focus, as I scrutinize how people themselves make sense of an issue and I analyze the role of particular worldviews in shaping their responses.
I am specialized in both qualitative as well as quantitative research methods and I have used a wide range of research techniques, such as in-depth focus groups, population-representative survey experiments and correlational class analysis of survey data.
