I am a political scientist specialising in the Middle East. Since the early 2000’s, I have lived and worked in Egypt, Lebanon and Morocco and travelled extensively throughout the MENA region. Over time, I became fascinated with the people and the societies I encountered and have taken special interest in matters of socio-economic development, urban politics and dynastic power.
My work is rooted in a political sociology perspective and has recently focused on the interaction between architecture, religion and power in Lebanon but I have also tackled dissimilar issues like e.g. commercial diplomacy of Arab states and I have participated in research programmes on political change in North Africa, on anthropologic analysis of property issues and on the institutional architecture of states in comparative perspective.
