Are you ready to take the next step towards studying economics and business economics in an international environment? On this page, you will find everything you need to know about the application process, important deadlines, and what to expect next.

Important to know

  • Numerus-fixus: only a limited number of students are admitted – 700 for 2026-27.
  • Early application deadline: you must apply by 15 January 2026 23.59 CET. 
  • Selection procedure: all students who meet the admission requirements are invited to take part.
  • Ranking: students who have the best grades and pass the ESE curriculum-based activity will receive the first 350 ranking numbers. Others will receive a ranking number through a weighted lottery. 
  • Ranking results: you will receive your ranking number on 15 April 2026.

Application timeline 1 October 2025 - 15 January 2026, 23:59 CET

15 January 2026 23.59PM CET – late applications will not be accepted.

Make sure your diploma and grades meet our minimum entry requirements. Check our admissions website well in time.

You are required to upload several documents to complete your application. 

  • If you are applying with a non-Dutch diploma (no VWO or HBO Propaedeutic diploma), you must pay a handling fee of €100,-
  • You will be able to pay the handling fee via the EUR Application Portal. You will receive the link to the EUR Application Portal and your login credentials after you registered in Studielink. 
  • Once logged in to the Portal, click View/edit to start your application. Step 1 will be to pay the mandatory handling fee by creditcard or Paypal. 

In case you have not received the necessary e-mails, check your spam folder first. Alternatively, contact the Erasmus Student Service Centre.

Only registering with Studielink is not a valid application. You must answer questions and upload your application documents to the EUR Application Portal. By logging in to the EUR Portal you will find an overview of your application(s) and by clicking on View/edit you will start your application:

  • Handling fee (if applicable)
  • Answer all questions
  • Upload your documents
  • Click on Submit no later than 15 January 23:59 CET

Any documents or additional information presented after the application deadline will not be considered. This means it is your responsibility to make sure your documents meet our requirements well in time. Should your documents not meet the criteria when the deadline has passed, this can result in a withdrawal of your application. Make sure to prepare your application on time. For students already living in the Netherlands, this includes your DigiD login details which you need to create your Studielink account. 

Important: students who fail to submit their application through both Studielink and the EUR Application Portal prior to 15 January 23:59 CET will find that their Studielink registration will be cancelled.

  • Students who do not meet our minimum entry requirements will receive feedback as soon as possible but no later than Friday 6 February. 
  • If you do qualify, you will be invited to participate in the selection procedure. Part of the selection procedure is mandatory participation in our online curriculum-based activity. In the invitation, you will find a link to access the online learning environment Canvas where you will find supporting material and more detailed information about the curriculum-based activity. 
     
    Disclaimer: while preparing this website the timeline for the curriculum-based activity is to be finalised. Slight changes to the timeline could be necessary. If so, this will be communicated no later than October 2025.

On 15 April, all applicants who met the admission requirements and successfully participated in the selection procedure will receive their personal ranking number via Studielink.

To officially be admitted to our study programme, make sure you complete the following steps: 

  • Submit certified documents
    • Upload certified copies and, if applicable, sworn translations of your diploma and final grade list no later than 1 August. 
    • Exception: (I)GCE A-level and Irish Leaving Certificate students, deadline 21 August. 
    • Upon receipt of your documents and confirming that these meet our requirements, the admissions team will grant you unconditional admission.
  • Immigration (non-EEA students) 
    • Must complete the immigration procedure by 10 July. 
    • This includes payment of the annual tuition fees via bank transfer. 
    • Missing the 10 July deadline will result in the cancellation of your application.
  • Tuition fees (EEA students) 
    • You must pay the tuition fees by 31 August. 
    • First, confirm your preferred payment method and bank details in Studielink. 
    • Settle the payment via the method you confirmed.

Important reminders

  • Only registering in Studielink before 15 January is not a valid application. You must also submit your full application and handling fee payment in the EUR Application Portal before the deadline of 15 January 23.59CET. 
  • Any documents or additional information presented after the application deadline will not be considered. This means it is your responsibility to make sure your documents meet the admission and application requirements before 15 January. Should your documents not meet the criteria when the deadline has passed, this can result in a withdrawal of your application. 
  • All applicants are expected to read and agree on the IBEB Regulations numerus-fixus and decentralised selection.
  • No transfer options are available for students who currently study Economics elsewhere. You must apply to the first year of our programme by following the above-mentioned application procedure. 
  • Students studying at Erasmus University Rotterdam who would like to switch to the IBEB programme must also follow the regular application procedure with the deadline of 15 January. We do not offer a possibility to submit a late application for those students who wish to switch studies in the spring or summer.
