Your application period depends on whether you are a current or former Erasmus School of Economics Bachelor/Pre-master student and on your nationality. Applications submitted outside the correct application period will not be considered and may be cancelled without review. Please refer to the timeline below:
| Status applicant | Application period |
|---|---|
| Current ESE students (all nationalities) | 3 June 2026 – 1 August 2026 |
| Former ESE students with EEA nationality | 3 June 2026 – 1 August 2026 |
| Former ESE students with non-EEA nationality* | 5 January 2026 – 1 June 2026 |
*Important information for non-EEA students
Non-EEA students who currently do not hold a valid study permit for the Netherlands must apply before 1 June 2026 by sending their information and intent to apply to ese-admission@ese.eur.nl. This applies, for example, to students who took a gap year after the Bachelor graduation. For students who apply after 1 June 2026, it cannot be guaranteed that the visa procedure is completed in time.
Step-by-step application process
Before beginning your application, review our admission requirements webpage. Make sure you meet all the requirements before beginning your application.
- First, register as a student in the Dutch national student registration system, Studielink and choose the programme you want to apply for. This is not your actual application!
- Choose the type of study programme “WO Master” if you are registering for a Master programme or “WO Bachelor” if you are registering for a Pre-master programme.
- Select 'First Year Student'.
- Please note: You can select your specialisation during the second step in the EUR Admission Portal.
For more a detailed instruction on how to register in Studielink, click here.
After registering in Studielink, you must complete your application in the EUR Admissions Portal. Here you will choose your specialisation and upload required documents.
- After registration in Studielink, you will receive an e-mail with the subject “Follow up to your Studielink application” with a link to the EUR Admissions Portal.
- Log in with your ERNA details.
- Once submitted, you will receive a confirmation email with a summary of your application.
Please note that you will receive several automated messages during the application process, so be sure to check your spam or junk folder regularly.
If you have not yet finished your Bachelor or Pre-master programme you must submit the following documents with your application:
If you have not yet finished your Bachelor thesis or if your grade is not registered in Osiris by the application deadline of 1 August 2026, but you will complete it by 31 August 2026, you can still apply by submitting a Thesis Completion Statement from your thesis supervisor.
Your supervisor must confirm that you will successfully complete your thesis by 31 August 2026. The official Thesis Completion Statement form can be downloaded by supervisors via the staff section of MyEUR.
The Thesis Completion Statement must:
- Be signed by your thesis supervisor.
- Clearly state that you will complete your thesis by 31 August 2026.
Students who almost meet the standard requirements can file a request for dispensation from the admission requirements. The request for dispensation should contain the following elements:
- The number of credits you have not passed.
- The name(s) of the course(s) you have not passed.
- Your study planning for the upcoming year, including the course(s) you have not passed.
- The reason for not meeting the requirements.
- Your motivation why the Examination Board should grant you admission to the Master programme.
- If you refer to events you will have to include proof of that event.
For more information regarding a request for dispensation please see the handout 'Request for dispensation admission (pre-)master' (pdf).
You do not need to upload your Study Progress Overview, but it is an application requirement to ensure it is accurate and up to date. An incorrect Study Progress Overview will result in an incomplete application.
- Download your overview in PDF format via the option ‘Download file’ in Osiris.
- Check the column “Voldaan” (Passed), each requirement should show “Ja” (Yes).
- Be aware that courses are sometimes listed incorrectly (for example they are listed under electives instead of the major). This can make your application appear incomplete.
If you find errors or missing courses, please contact the Information Desk immediately to have your records corrected.
If you have not yet obtained all your credits at the time of application, you are still allowed to apply if you expect to receive all your credits. Your application will be placed on hold until all your final grades have been published. Once this has happened, the Examination Board will assess your application and inform you of the outcome before the start of the academic year.
However, if you expect to receive all your results before the application deadline (1 August), we recommend waiting to apply until your results are available.
If you doubt you will pass all your credits before the start of the academic year, please review the option to request for dispensation. The Examination Board will assess your request.
Important:
- It is your own responsibility to make sure your documents meet the admission and application criteria before the application deadline. This means that if your documents do not meet the application and admission criteria and the application deadline has passed your application can be cancelled.
- Check your email’s spam or junk folder to make sure you don’t miss important messages from the university. If you find an email from us there, add our address to your contacts to prevent this from happening again.
Applications are closed
The application period for the (Pre-)Master programmes for the academic year 2025/2026 closed on Sunday 17 August, 23:59 Dutch local time. It is no longer possible to apply for a (Pre-)Master programme.
