Female labour supply, taxation and intergenerational spillovers

Many governments aim to close remaining gender gaps in the labour market. Tax policy may contribute to these remaining gender gaps. The effects of taxation on female labour supply may be even larger if spillovers onto the next generation are taken into account.

In this paper, I exploit a reform which abolished a tax subsidy for breadwinner families. I find that this increased female labour supply and income. However, I also find a reduction in the labour supply of the daughters of these women.
