Reverse culture shock

It may seem strange, but upon return to the Netherlands (or your home country), a Reverse Culture Shock is feasible. The experience abroad will certainly have an impact on you, while your environment at home remained the same. The Reverse Culture Shock develops in more or less the same pattern as a culture shock, but may feel worse as it comes unexpectedly.

Managing reverse culture shock

It is important to talk about your experiences. You may notice that your friends who stayed home might not always want to listen to your stories. Therefore, make sure to share your stories with other students who studied abroad, or with students wanting to go on exchange. Particularly this group of students is certainly interested in your experiences.

There are various activities for new (exchange) students during the year. We would appreciate your help!
