Most international students with a non-EU/EEA nationality*, studying in the Netherlands for more than 90 days, are obliged to apply for an entry visa and/or Dutch residence permit. Find out which procedure applies to you.
Application deadline for exchange students: 15 October 2018
For nominated exchange students who start their studies in January 2019, the deadline to submit the immigration application documents is 15 October 2018. This deadline is strict, so we advise you to start with your application as soon as you have received the instructions from our university on how to start your immigration procedure.
The immigration procedure consists of filling out several forms, as well as completing a bank transfer covering your deposit for the cost of living and the handling fee of the Dutch Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND). This proof of financial means is required to demonstrate the IND that you have sufficient financial means to fund your studies and to live in the Netherlands. The cost of living is set at a minimum amount of €900 per month. As an example, if you will be an exchange student at Erasmus School of Economics for Block 3&4 (a study period of 4 months), your cost of living would be €3600 (€900 x 4).
* If you are a student with a non-EU/EEA nationality and you already have a valid Dutch residence permit, you are exempted from starting a new immigration procedure. Please do supply us with a PDF-scan of the front and back of your permit card. In addition, should your current permit relate to your current studies, you are to contact the International Office of Erasmus University (email@example.com) to start the procedure for switching the educational institution.
