Most international students with a non-EU/EEA nationality*, studying in the Netherlands for more than 90 days, are obliged to apply for an entry visa and/or Dutch residence permit. Find out which procedure applies to you.
Application deadline: 15 June 2020
For those students who start their studies in September 2020, the immigration procedure will start on 1 April 2020. It is not possible to start your application before that time.
The deadline to complete your immigration application is 15 June 2020. This deadline is strict, so we advise you to start with your application as soon as you have received the instructions from our university on how to start your immigration procedure. These instructions will be sent to you via e-mail from the beginning of April.
The immigration procedure consists of filling in several forms, as well as completing a bank transfer covering tuition fee, a deposit for the cost of living and the handling fee of the Dutch Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND). This proof of financial means is required to demonstrate the IND that you have sufficient financial means to fund your studies and to live in the Netherlands.
The cost of living is set at a minimum amount of € 900 per month. As an example, if you will be a bachelor student at Erasmus School of Economics, your cost of living for the year would be €10.800 (€ 900 x 12). The cost of living is only calculated over the first year of your studies.
* If you are a student with a non-EU/EEA nationality and you already have a valid Dutch residence permit, you are exempted from starting a new immigration procedure. Please do supply us with a PDF-scan of the front and back of your permit card.
