In the SYNC lab we believe it is important to share the knowledge we gain during our research projects with others. Our knowledge can be useful to young people, parents or professionals such as teachers.

We regularly provide lectures and workshops to youth, parents, teachers, professionals, and those who are interested on themes such as:

Informative websites

On the (Dutch) website www.kijkinjebrein.nl, youth can learn more about their brain in relation to several topics, such as social media, friendships, and emotions.
On the (Dutch) website www.juniorhersenen.nl, youth who are interested in participating in research can sign up to take part.
On the (Dutch) website www.youngxperts.nl youth can find information about their development and opportunities to take action for a better future during the corona crisis.

School/course materials

We recently launched course material specifically developed for students between the ages of 10 and 16. Subjects of the course material include friendship, self-concept, and risk-taking behaviour.

The course material is freely available here.

For policy makers and youth workers we have made an e-magazine (in Dutch) in which the results of our research on the well-being of young people during the corona crisis are described and summarised in an accessible way. You can also read a summary of the e-magazine (in Dutch).

Books

– In 2018, the second edition of Eveline Crone’s book “Het puberendebrein” (the pubertal brain) was published.
– In 2019, several SYNC researchers contributed to the (Dutch) information booklet “Brein in de Groei”. This booklet contains up to date scientific information on brain development and behaviour during adolescence.
