Title: Why are the higher educated healthier than the lower educated?

Supervisor:

Project Description

The gap in life expectancy between the highest and lowest educated individuals is around 6-7 years in the Netherlands. Despite a large body of research the causes of these disparities are poorly understood. In this project you will take a quantitative approach to help understand why the higher educated are persistently in better health than the lower educated. In particular, you will look at differences in healthy eating across educational groups, and check to what extent differences in income, health knowledge, or simply the ‘value of health’ explain differences in healthy diets.
