The scholarship (max 17.500 euro) is open to individuals from developing countries with relevant professional experience and a history of supporting their countries’ development efforts applying to a Master’s degree programme. After the completion of the master programme the awardee commit to return to their home country to use their new skills and contribute to their countries' social and economic development.
Below you will find the rules and regulations as applicable to the students of Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences (ESSB).
Requirements:
In order to qualify for financial support under the provision of a Ter Kulve Scholarship, an applicant:
- You’re a national of one of the middle – lower income countries based on the World Bank country classifications by income level for 2024-2025
- You are an excellent student according to the faculty’s standard. The average grade should be the equivalent to the Dutch grade of 8.0 on the Dutch grading scale of 1 to 10.
- You have recent relevant work experience after earning a Bachelor’s degree.
- You are applying for a full-time master at Erasmus University Rotterdam.
- The selection for this scholarship will be carried out by the faculties and schools. For more detailed information about the selection process, please contact the faculty or school involved.
Scholarship / Grant amount
The student will receive € 17.500 and an additional tuition fee waiver. The scholarship will be granted for one academic year.
Application procedure
In order to apply for the Erasmus Trustfonds Scholarship at ESSB, you need to prepare the following documents:
- Motivation letter (max. 1 A4, in PDF format)
- CV (in PDF format)
- Budget plan (in PDF format)
Please answer the following questions in your motivation letter:
- Why do you need the Ter Kulve Scholarship?
- Why should you be considered an excellent candidate? Include a description of academic excellence and if applicable other merits.
- How will you, after completion of the master’s programme, use your new skills and contribute to your countries' social and economic development?
The application for the scholarship must:
- be submitted before March 15th;
- be submitted through the EUR Admissions Portal (not through email!). You can submit your scholarship application documents while applying for a master’s programme through the portal. This is possible from October 1st onwards. Please keep an eye on the application deadline for the master’s programme of your choice
Please be aware that a scholarship can only be granted after being admitted to the master's programme. In case you have not yet finished your bachelor studies, you may get a conditional offer. This suffices to be eligible for a scholarship.
Evaluation
All applicants will be informed about the decision before June 1st. Instruction on further steps in regards to accepting the scholarship will follow.
