Title: Are health risks equally distributed across socioeconomic groups?
Supervisor: Tom Van Ourti
Project Description
The concentration index is widely used to measure income-related inequality in health. It judges whether inequalities in realized health outcomes are related to socioeconomic status, but it is silent about whether health prospects (or the uncertainty people face in future health trajectories).
A thesis on this subject could go in two directions. Students might use data to address this question empirically (and e.g. compare this inequality across countries). Alternatively, students might try to develop new inequality measures that are suitable to measure such inequalities in health prospects.
