Programme
The lustrum year runs from summer 2023 to the end of the academic year in summer 2024. The official start of the 110th anniversary of our university is the Opening Academic Year. We will celebrate this on Monday 4 September 2023 at the Laurenskerk in the middle of the city. It will be the kick-off of a year of learning, discovery and celebration together. The Dies Natalis will of course be our university's real birthday on 8 November 2023. We will complete the programme with various academic and cultural activities in the coming period.

Organising your own lustrum activity
Besides our major lustrum activities, we encourage students and employees to organise their own activity in the lustrum year. These can be anything. From a lecture for all Rotterdammers to a small festival on campus and from a lecture on the Erasmus Bridge to a tour of the Kunsthal. From the university, you can apply for a budget for your activity of up to EUR 5,000. On MyEUR you can read all about how you can also participate in the lustrum with an activity.
Making Minds Matter
Making Minds Matter is the theme of the 22nd lustrum. This includes the sub-themes: inclusiveness, sustainability and entrepreneurship. We want to be a university for everyone, a place for entrepreneurial people and together we work towards a sustainable future.
Inclusive culture: our university is for everyone
We believe that teaching and research are at their best with a wide diversity of researchers, students and staff: people who each bring their own background, opinion, knowledge and experience. This diversity of talents provides the university with an academic environment in which everyone can feel at home and develop to their full potential.
Entrepreneurial character: a university for entrepreneurial people
Building on the legacy of our founders, our university is characterised by an entrepreneurial spirit: a can-do culture focused on results, experimentation and innovation. We are not afraid to deviate from the beaten track from time to time, boldly and sometimes unconventionally.
Sustainable approach: we work towards a sustainable future
Sustainability is about treating people and nature with respect, also with a view to the future. This is not only about CO2-neutral buildings and recyclable coffee cups, but also about finding and implementing sustainable solutions to the major societal challenges we face. That is what we are concerned with at our university.
