Wildlife Film Festival Rotterdam

The entrance of Cinerama Filmtheater

Can we find sustainable solutions to human-wildlife conflict?

For most of us, the Serengeti conjures magical images of wildlife and beautiful wild spaces. But what does it mean for local populations when elephants destroy vital crops which they depend on for survival? Or lions decimate a herd of livestock, or injures somebody?

This topic was explored with our alumni. In the foyer of Cinerama Filmtheater in Rotterdam, we welcomed our guests for coffee and to meet fellow alumni.

Next, our alumni Gert Polet and Femke Hilderink from WWF hosted a presentation about the topic of the documentary. After the presentation, the documentary The Edge of Existence was shown to an audience consisting of only alumni of Erasmus University.

After the viewing, our alumni gathered for drinks and snacks in the foyer. People met to discuss the - sometimes shocking - images from the documentary, but also enjoyed meeting old classmates and (new) friends.
