Selection and nomination

Selection

After receiving all applications, the Exchange Coordinator will assess eligibility of all applicants. Selection will be based on your study results and motivation. We will attempt to place as many applicants as we can with one of the three universities listed in your application, while aiming for an optimal distribution of exchange spots. Please note that the chances of selection for the three listed choices are equal.

You will be informed about outcome of selection via e-mail. If not all students can be placed during the first round, a second placement round will take place. If you could not be assigned a host university, you will be invited by e-mail to choose three destinations from a list of universities with available spots.

Selection meeting

The e-mail also includes an invitation to the selection meeting. During this session, you can ask all your questions after we explain the application to the partner university. Either before or during this meeting, you will receive your selection letter and the terms and conditions. All students need to confirm the selection offer by signing the terms and conditions within 2 weeks after receiving it.

Withdrawal from the exchange programme after submission of the terms and conditions will be charged with an administrative fee of € 250.

Nomination and application partner university

Once we receive the signed terms and conditions, we will nominate you at the host university. It is only after this nomination that you can start your application at the host university. Students are responsible to apply at the host institution correctly and on time. Please bear in mind that in theory the host university still has the right to reject this nomination and/or your application, although in practice nominated students are usually accepted.

The application procedure at the exchange university can be quite extensive. Keep in mind that you need to read and follow the instructions given by the host university well. Please take into account that it may take time to obtain some documents that are required for the application procedure. For example, it could be that you have to show language proficiency in English or Spanish or provide a bank statement signed by your bank. Please read the fact sheet and instructions (on the website) of the host university carefully.
