Rob Kickert is a PhD candidate in educational sciences. More specifically, he is investigating differences in motivation, self-regulation and academic performance under the new assessment policy introduced by Erasmus University, called Nominaal is Normaal (N=N).
Under N=N, students of all faculties need to obtain all first-year credits within one year in order to avoid academic dismissal. Additionally, some faculties also allowed some form of compensation between grades for separate courses. In his PhD project, Rob found out that this change of assessment policy is associated with differences in academic progress, grades, motivation and self-regulation.
