TOP Update December 2021: Looking back & ahead

In the last newsletter of this year we will be taking a look back at 2021. What kind of things did we do this year to support employees in their development? And we’ll also take a look at what’s in store for 2022: what kind of things can you expect from TOP next year?

  • Senior Leadership in Academia: a success!
    In 2021, TOP offered the Senior Academic Leadership courseor the first time. This is follow-up to the successful Academic Leadership course. Senior Academic Leadership is a top-level leadership programme developed for professors who are responsible for a department, section or team. The purpose of the course is to develop leadership qualities in the context of the organisation’s strategic objectives. The first course, completed on 16 September, received a positive evaluation. On average, the modules were given a score of 8.4. A new group started the course in October. The next new group is scheduled to start in the spring of 2022. Registration is possible upon nomination by the dean of your faculty. Interested?

  • Share Your Knowledge
    Every year, TOP organises the Share Your Knowledge (SYK) Week. During this week, colleagues organise brief workshops for each other. The 2021 edition of the SYK week took place fully online for the very first time. A total of 28 workshops were given covering a wide variety of topics, such as ajournaling workshop, a workshop covering the basics of theatre, and a research ethics workshop. 281 colleagues participated in these workshops. The 2022 SYK week is scheduled to take place from 4 through 8 April 2022. This edition will also take place fully online. You can sign up as a trainer soon!

  • New range of courses offered since this year
    TOP is always trying to inspire employees by offering a diverse and innovative range of training courses that are aligned with employees’ needs and the university’s strategic objectives. We offered various new training courses in 2021 and these will be offered in again in our 2022 range of courses. Take a look at the TOP training course calendar for the dates.

    • Taking charge of your work-life balance: This training course will help you develop a vision on how you want to approach your working life and personal life, provide you with tools to deal with stress, and provide insight into thinking patterns and behavioural patterns that may or may not be supportive in reaching your goals.
    • A healthy dose of courageIn this workshop you will work on how you can build up your self-confidence and what you can achieve when you have it. You will learn how to recognise the right time to be show courage and you will discover how your influence can be used more effectively.
    • Design thinking fundamentalsDesign Thinking helps you use a structured approach and creativity to resolve complex issues. It’s a method that encourages co-creation and that’s why it can contribute to creating positive societal impact.
    • How to deal with procrastination? (for PhD's): This training course helps you to explore which thoughts may be contributing to this.You'll learn how to cope with these thoughts, so you can stress less and direct your energy towards action. 
  • Online learning with GoodHabitz
    Once again we enthusiastically made use of EUR’s online training platform GoodHabitz in 2021. 585 training courses were started, involving 1055 hours of study, and 209 certificates of participation were obtained. The top 3 courses taken in 2021 were: Excel 2013 Basics, Lean and PowerPoint 2013. New additions are made monthly to the range of courses offered by GoodHabitz. Some of the training courses added this year included Resiliency, Breathing, and Personal Branding. Interested in finding out more? Take a look now!
