Laura E. A. Braden is an Assistant Professor in the Arts and Culture Department of Erasmus University’s Erasmus School of History, Culture, and Communication. Her research focuses on differential recognition in the visual art world.
Hester Dibbits is endowed professor Historical Culture and Education in the Department of History. Her research focuses on the use of heritage in educational networks of schools, heritage institutes, museums and the tourist industry.

Koen van Eijck is Professor in the Department of Arts and Culture Studies. His research focuses on social inequality and trends in
cultural participation and taste patterns, arts education, talent development, and the perception and appreciation of visual art.
Jiska Engelbert is a critical discourse researcher. Her work explores the relationship between (increasingly) media-oriented practices—from contemporary fundraising to controlling the borders of Europe—and neoliberalism.
Erik Hitters is Associate Professor of Media and Cultural Industries in the Department of Media & Communication. His research interests lie in the broad field of transformations in the media and (local, regional, and national) cultural industries.
Arno van der Hoeven is Assistant Professor in the Department of Media & Communication. His research interests include popular music, cultural heritage and local identity. His current research focuses on the digitisation of urban cultural heritage.
Ruud Jacobs (1987) recently finished his PhD project at the Department of Media & Communication with succes. His research was part of the NWO-funded project Persuasive Gaming in Context: From theory-based design to validation and back, that started in October 2013.
Susanne Janssen is Chair of the Department of Media and Communication. Her research and teaching activities lie in the fields of cultural sociology, media and communications research, and the sociology of the arts and literature.
Jeroen Jansz holds the Chair of Communication and Media in the Department of Media & Communication. His research takes the Internet as a starting point and aims to explain the relations between media consumers and media producers.
Mariangela Lavanga is Assistant Professor in Cultural Economics at the Department of Arts and Cultural Studies. Her expertise
lies in the interrelations between cultural/creative industries and cities. She focuses on fashion and design-oriented firms.
Emiel Martens is a media lecturer, researcher and producer. His research interests include postcolonial (media) studies, media geography, popular geopolitics, cultural politics, creative industries, film (and) tourism and alternative media.
Trilce Navarrete Hernandez is lecturer in the Cultural Economics and Entrepreneurship program. As a digital heritage researcher (focused on economic changes) Trilce is driven by an interest to support access to heritage materials.
Stijn Reijnders is Professor of Cultural Heritage at the Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication. In addition to his work on film tourism, Reijnders currently supervises a PhD project on dark tourism.
Mélodine Sommier is Assistant Professor in Intercultural Communication. Her research interests include (from a critical angle) intercultural communication, identity issues, anti-racism education, migration and acculturation processes.
Marc Verboord is Associate Professor of Media and Culture. His main research interests concern cultural globalization and the impact of new media on cultural markets. He’s published on various cultural forms and is Co-Editor-in-Chief of Poetics.
Filip Vermeylen teaches various courses in the Master’s program ‘Cultural Economics and Entrepreneurship’. He conducts research on a wide range of issues dealing with the economics of art and culture, with a particular focus on art markets.
Janelle Ward is Assistant Professor in the Department of Media & Communication. Her expertise is in digital communication. She currently researches how people create and manage impressions on mobile dating apps like Tinder.
Ben Wubs is an Associate Professor Economic and Business History at the Department of History of the ESHCC. He is engaged in projects related to multinationals, business systems, economic regions and transnational fashion industry.
