Leiderschapstraject voor UD’s en UHD’s

Academic Leadership

A course designed to give insight into your personal leadership style and to help you develop it further. Besides this, topics that are addressed during the course are e.g. Strategy & Governance, Office politics and People Management.

The course program alternates between theory and practice, individual coaching, and peer supervision. There is also room for personal learning objectives and questions from other participants.

Participation in this course is a necessary qualification for management, to grow from assistant professor to associate professor. We strive to have gender balance in the course as it is important for the group dynamics and effectiveness of the course.

In your role as an assistant professor, and as an aspiring associate professor, you will need skills to manage, inspire, motivate, and coach diverse professionals. Creating a safe and inclusive work climate, managing quality of research and education and financial management are other important aspects of your (new) role.

Due to coronavirus limitations, the individual intakes and intervision meetings will be held online.

I appreciated the intervision meetings in particular – it is nice to discuss dilemmas with the colleagues and learn how they would handle, for instance, a stagnating PhD project or a budget competition.
